For background, some manufacturers use jade and blue glass. It shows a green or blue tint when viewed from the edge. Molten glass is is shaped in a mold. It looks clear, but has bubbles that are formed during the cooling process. Optical clear glass is considerably more expensive to produce than jade or blue glass. The finest quality of clear crystal glass is optical quality.
